Higher, Faster, Longer…

Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31

…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

I love this verse – if we seek after God, we will find Him and He will restore us. He will give us strength to do His will.

“Hope in the Lord” - to trust with confidence and expectation of good in the things that God does and will do. We need to trust God in our weakness and helplessness. It doesn’t mean not doing anything. The attitude is like that of a farmer who sows the seed, waters his fields and pulls the weeds while waiting in hope in the Lord for a harvest.

“Renew their strength” – to change, restore, revive. We put off the old, dirty clothes and put on the new, clean clothes (How does it feel after a shower and a fresh change of clothes after working in the yard in the hot sun? Refreshed, right?) Our strength is in the Lord and He will replenish that strength.

“Soar on wings of eagles” – The eagle flies stronger and higher than any other bird (closer to the sun) and above the storms. As we draw closer to the Son, our faith will grow stronger. We will soar higher.

“Run and not grow weary” – As we draw closer to the Son, our faith will grow stronger. We will run faster.

“Walk and not be faint” – As we draw closer to the Son, our faith will grow stronger. We will walk longer.

Higher, faster, longer…
